UroLume® is implanted in the urethra in an outpatient procedure (usually in 10-30 minutes). The stent is a braided, flexible wire mesh tube that is placed within the urethra to hold it open with a constant, gentle outward force on the urethral wall. This allows urine to pass through the urethra from the bladder without obstruction.
The UroLume becomes naturally incorporated into the urethra over time. This usually keeps the strictures from coming back.
